Samsung’s highly anticipated 2025 foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, are set to receive significant upgrades in their display sizes. According to a tweet by Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will see some key updates, particularly in their display sizes. Fold 7 is expected to carry the same display sizes as the Fold 6 SE and the Z Flip 7 will gain a bit more than slight increase in screen size.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to feature display sizes similar to those of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE). Reports suggest it will include a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.0-inch foldable main display, marking an increase in screen real estate over the Galaxy Z Fold 6. According to previous rumors, the Fold 6 SE and the Fold 7 could have been two different looking devices, but Ross Young has put the rumors to bed once and for all by saying the SE model is what the Fold 7 will look like, at least with respect to the display. The Fold 7 is quickly looking like a SE influence on its design, likely turning into the Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also receiving a screen upgrade. Its main foldable display is expected to grow from 6.7 inches to 6.85 inches, while the cover display will expand from 3.4 inches to 4.0 inches, bringing it closer in size to the Motorola Razr+, a major competitor in the foldable market. This increase in screen size is designed to offer users more functionality without sacrificing portability.
These display changes suggest that Samsung is gradually expanding the capabilities of foldable innovation, enhancing the functionality in multitasking and in leisure. Since there are still some months remaining for the actual launch, there is a high chance that more information will come out, however, these few updates already lay down the groundwork for a new breed of foldable devices.
