Samsung has invested in Enfabrica, a semiconductor AI startup based in the US to demonstrate the importance the company attaches on AI technologies. Samsung has made this move as a way of establishing itself in the growing market of Artificial Intelligence. Enfabrica, which was founded in 2019 by former employees of Broadcom and Alphabet, focuses on developing semiconductors and software to improve AI and accelerated computing workloads.
Enfabrica recently completed a $115 million Series C funding round, led by Spark Capital. Samsung Catalyst Fund (SCF) joined as a new investor, alongside other key investors, including Arm, Cisco Investments, Maverick Silicon, and VentureTech Alliance. This is capital that will assist Enfabrica in expanding the company’s operations and to create new advanced products.
One of Enfabrica’s major upcoming innovations is the 3.2Tbps ACF SuperNIC chip, which is set to be released in the first quarter of next year. The company also mentioned that they’re going to trial systems incorporating this chip, an important advancement in AI semiconductors. With the investment from Samsung, Enfabrica wants to expand research on new technologies and applications, especially the mass production of its Accelerated Computing Fabric Super Network Interface Card (NIC) chips.
Enfabrica’s co-founder and CEO, Rochan Sankar, noted that current AI networking technology can only connect about 100,000 AI computing chips before network performance begins to decline. The company’s innovations aim to overcome this technical limitation, paving the way for scalable AI solutions.
The collaboration between Samsung and Enfabrica comes after the company has made earlier investments in other AI companies including DreamBig Semiconductor and AxelleraAI. Such strategic moves illustrate that Samsung is trying to follow its vision to stay out in front in the AI semiconductor business and in this function secure the firm’s position in the cataclysmic new innovation Characteristic.
This partnership clearly shows that AI and semiconductor industries have emerged to be some of the critical components that will define the future of technology.
