The Galaxy S25 series from Samsung will be announced in January 2024, packing significant design and performance-related changes. The S25 series is “thinner” and changes are “heavy,” with upwards of 8GB RAM confirmed and fresh news that the advanced camera system will be limited to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
The series will include three models: Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. As for the S25 and S25+, both phones are believed to be 7.2 mm thick and the thinnest Galaxy S flagship phones since the Galaxy S6 flagship that was released in 2015. The S25 Ultra will measure 8.2 mm, the thinnest design since the Ultra series was launched in 2020. This is quite a change in design, especially given the fact that Samsung was aiming for better build quality. However, despite the very thin body, the camera of the S25 Ultra will stick out by 2.4 mm, and the S25 and S25+ cameras will come with 1. 8 mm, which is still thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 4.3 mm.
The Galaxy S25 series brings back thinner smartphones a decade ago from the past. Particularly, the S25 Ultra is going to be a game-changer by becoming the first ever Ultra model to sport a surprisingly thin form factor.
The camera system is also expected to retain the main and telephoto sensors seen on the S24 Ultra, with updates expected for its ultra-wide lens. It is designed to keep Samsung ahead in the smartphone camera race by competing with rivals such as Apple.
And a major rumor suggests the Galaxy S25 Ultra might have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor all to itself. Reportedly, similar reports surrounded the S24 series yet none materialized, so at this point, this one is also anyone’s guess.
