It appears that Google has unveiled a new update to the Gemini homescreen on Android, which seems to have changed design at least momentarily in order to provide a more straightforward and more convenient experience to the users. This one is created shortly after the previous update and aims at the simplification of the mobile UI.
In the prior layout, they saw a full text box at the bottom, and they invited the users to ‘Type, talk, or share a photo to Gemini Advanced.’ The voice input, the camera input, and file upload options were located in the pill-shaped bar at the bottom, and other options, including Gemini Live, are available in the corner buttons.
The redesigned layout removes the separation between the text box and places it on the same line as the four principal input buttons, which makes the interface less cluttered and more compact in its layout. This syncs it with the UI used during conversations and effectively makes the Android version look like the Gemini web interface, thus making the consistency across platforms these two apps had with the other three apps maintained.
Among the additions in the update, there is an animated text field expansion. Hitting the text box makes the screen transition smoothly while showing the previous UI and the sliding keyboard, too. The above balance between minimalism and functionality improves the service delivery among the users.
Further, users experiencing problems with the redesign can shut down the application with the notification tab to launch the new user interface. What we can see in this latest Google update is a clear forward of the company’s notion of simplicity introduced in the new Google Search homepage.
