Apple has announced that replacing the battery of its new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will cost more than any previous iPhone model. Apple has rolled out a new 20% hike in the price of battery replacements across its premium devices, effectively increasing the cost disparity between the iPhone Pro and non-Pro models even further.
This pricing is the same as it was for iPhone 15 models. Battery swaps are going to cost $119 for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max users, another increase from the $99 rate maintained by standard models this year. In contrast, previous generations of iPhones had far more reasonable battery replacement options, like the iPhone 13 series, which is signed up for $89 replacements. The raise follows what’s a part of Apple’s larger efforts to contrast its Pro models with the rest of its line-up, not just feature-wise but also with post-sale services like repairs.
The price gap is also huge across other more recent iPhone models. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 batteries have kept steady, a price hike has not been implemented on those models. Which means that Apple is clear-cutting high service fees on its latest flagship models, positioning the Pro versions even as premium products in the matter of maintenance costs.
Keep in mind that these prices are for official Apple Stores only. Price will differ depending on the location of third-party Apple Authorized Service Providers and services.
