Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to make some minor hardware changes, but the standout upgrade is its increased RAM, specifically aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Leaked details from a post by Jukanlosreve on X (formerly Twitter) suggest that the S25 Ultra will come in three storage and RAM variants, marking a significant shift from its predecessor, the S24 Ultra.
The three variants are as follows:
- 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage
- 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage
- 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage
While Samsung’s storage options remain largely unchanged from previous models, the boost in RAM, especially the reintroduction of 16 GB, is noteworthy. This is the first time since the Galaxy S21 Ultra that a Samsung Ultra phone will feature 16 GB of RAM. Prior models, including the S24 Ultra, have been limited to 12 GB, making this new configuration a welcome upgrade for those seeking better performance.
So why the increase in RAM? It appears Samsung may be preparing for more demanding AI features in the S25 Ultra. Much like Apple, which recently increased its iPhone RAM to enable AI advancements, Samsung seems to be following suit. An accidentally leaked One UI 7 page on Samsung’s website emphasized AI, hinting that the additional RAM could support these new features.
Despite these improvements, not everything about the S25 Ultra seems revolutionary. The device is expected to feature the same design as its predecessor, with the exception of a slight design change to rounder edges. Even the display and battery may remain unchanged.
As Samsung gears up for its launch, the S25 Ultra promises solid upgrades in RAM for AI, but it may not offer the groundbreaking innovations many fans were hoping for.
